Geo-Zones
UAS operators who wish to conduct drone operations in the Republic of Cyprus, are required by law to download the geographical zones file developed and published by the Cyprus Department of Civil Aviation, in digital format (json), and upload this file into the drone’s geoawareness system, provided the drone belongs in either one of the Classes C1,C2,C3,C5,C6.
The Geo Zones JSON file can be downloaded HERE. The file is also available for download at the bottom of this page (please save the file in json format i.e xxxxxx.json).
Below you can find instructions, how to upload this file in a DJI drone (you can also find these instructions in PDF format at the bottom of this page).
STEP 1:
Open the DJI Fly App and connect the drone with the remote controller.
STEP 2:
Tap on the “GO FLY” button to navigate to the main interface of the application.
STEP 3:
Tap on the settings button on the top right hand corner of your screen.
STEP 4:
Navigate to the “About” settings and scroll down and click “FlySafe Data”. Afterwards, click “Import From Files”
STEP 5:
Click “Select File” so as to find the JSON file.
STEP 6:
Locate and select the JSON file which you have already downloaded on your smartphone.
STEP 7:
Wait until the file is downloaded successfully.
STEP 8:
After successful upload, restart the drone, the remote controller, the DJI Fly App and open the maps on the DJI Fly App.

The map now should look as shown below, with all geographical zones indicated on the map and displayed either as a circle or as a polygon:
